Orange Becomes Main Industry of Zixing Reservoir Area

After 30 years of accumulation, the quality and popularity of Dongjiang Lake honey oranges with Qingjiang honey oranges as the representative kept rising and won many prizes at the Agricultural Fair. The "Dongjiang Lake honey orange" received the registration certificate of geographical indications of agricultural products in 2015 and was selected as the "National famous fruit regional public brand" in 2016. At present, Dongjiang Lake orange planting area exceeds 100 thousand mu, annual output of more than 130 thousand tons, and the annual output value reaches 400 million yuan, becoming the dominant industry and main economic sources of immigrants in the Dongjiang reservoir area.

 

This season is the busiest time of immigrants in the Dongjiang reservoir area, picking and purchasing the honey oranges everywhere. In late August every year, the fruit dealers come to Qingjiang Town to send the honey oranges all over the country.

 

It was reported that the production of Dongjiang Lake oranges in Qingjiang Town increased by about 30% with the begin price of 4 yuan per kilogram this year. Now the lowest purchasing price is 4.4 yuan and the highest price is 6.4 yuan per kilogram. Because the road connecting Xiamen Chengdu Expressway opened this year, more than 60 thousand tons of Dongjiang Lake honey oranges have been sold nearly half and are expected to be sold out at the end of November. The sales situation of honey oranges in Bailang, Chukou and other reservoir areas is also relatively optimistic.

 

The local farmers' professional cooperatives and the overseas distributors purchased the oranges in large quantities and large orders. At the same time, the rural E-commerce and We-business also aimed at the opportunity and delivered the oranges to the consumers directly through the more convenient online way. Three logistic companies in Qingjiang town delivery four or five hundred packages every day on average, orange sales of two or three thousand kilograms at more than 12 yuan per kilogram.

 

In addition, relying on the Dongjiang Lake National 5A Scenic Spot, the farmhouse leisure travel along the lake is popular and many tourists visit here to bring hundreds of tons of honey orange away every year. The reservoir immigrants realized the well-off society by planting the honey oranges.
