Chenzhou Martyr Park is located in East Tower Mountain in the south-eastern suburbs of the downtown. East Tower Mountain consists of eastern and western parts, with the former being 242 meters high and the latter 218.8 meters high. The total planned area is 38.7 hectares. The Chenzhou East Tower Park was established on May 17th, 1996 and was renamed "Chenzhou Martyr Park" on November 28th, 1996. (the memorial place of Southern Hunan Uprising). It was sanctioned as a municipal patriotism education base in 1995. Facilities in the park include: "Memorial Tower of Southern Hunan Uprising" inscribed by Deng Xiaoping, a monument engraving the names of 7,339 martyrs of Chenzhou (during 1927 to 1998) inscribed by General Xiao Ke, a Poetry Memorial Pavilion in memory of revolutionary martyrs by General Yang Dezhi, a martyr's tomb of Xia Mingzhen, and an exhibition room of Southern Hunan Uprising, etc..
