Scenic and homestay tourism promote rural revitalization

Meanwhile, during the summer vacation, due to the large number of tourists received by the Yangtian Lake Scenic Area, hundreds of homestay inns in the township received thousands of tourists from all corners of China.
The vigorous development of Yangtian Lake has driven the rapid development of homestay inn industry. Therefore, Yangtianhu Yao Township increased policy support for homestay inns, cultivated and assisted rural homestay inn demonstration sites with strong local customs. It also created ecological rural homestay characteristic cultural brands to promote rural revitalization.
As the number of tourists increases, hotels in scenic area are no longer able to meet the demands of tourists.
To meet the changing consumer demands of tourists and improve the quality of rural tourism, the township has made good use of grassland tourism, deep mountain photography, profound history to strengthen the development of homestay inns.
Kuandong Village, which is close to the scenic area, has created the “Kuandong Home” homestay brand based on its location advantage.
In recent years, Liaojiadong Village has made homestay inns an important driver for rural tourism.
Especially with the popularity of Yangtian Lake and rural tourism, Liaojiadong Village has become a well-known summer resort. Tourists from Guangdong, Jiangxi and other places brought direct economic benefits of about ten million yuan to the village. More villagers who once worked outside returned to the village and opened homestay inns.
Xiao He, president of the Liaojiadong Village Homestay Council, said that the homestay inns in Liaojiadong Village have been established since 2019, and there are now more than 50 homestay inns with 1,500 beds now. It’s difficult to book a room every summer.
The development of Yangtian Lake Grassland has also driven the development of surrounding villages. Many surrounding villages have opened homestay inns.
A villager from Caikoushui Village of Yangtianhu Township, said that after the scenic area was built, there are over 200 homestay inns nearby. And now he has a gross income of about 200,000 yuan a year from his homestay inn.
Before ecological development, local people earned less than 1,000 yuan a month. However, they are very confident in the development of rural undertaking with the help of beautiful and popular Yangtian Lake.
“Many people come here for the beautiful scenery of Yangtian Lake, and an endless stream of tourists come here because of the popular variety show ‘The Chinese Restaurant’ . We can achieve a daily revenue of 8,000 yuan during the peak period. During this year’s May Day holiday, our rooms were fully booked and we received booking calls every day,” said Tang Biyun.
The development of homestay inns in Yangtian Lake Scenic Area has been promoted through smoothing traffic network, optimizing tourism development environment and expanding investment attraction.
The homestay inns in 7 villages including Liaojiadong Village and Datang Yao Village are booming.
Now, there are more than 120 homestay inns at Yangtian Lake Grassland, with over 1,000 beds, receiving over 200,000 tourist arrivals annually.
The Yangtian Lake Grassland Scenic Area makes the use of its historical and cultural advantages, integrates homestay inns with surrounding cuisine, folk culture and others to create excellent rural tourist routes.
In recent years, activities such as South Camping Event and Hunan Summer Rural Tourism Festival have been held, as well as the shooting of “The Chinese Restaurant”. The huge view counts of this variety makes Yangtian Lake an Internet-famous attraction. Tourists come and stay overnight in homestay inns after appreciating the beautiful scenery of Yangtian Lake.
Currently, there are more than 120 rural homestay inns of all kinds with about 1,000 rooms and nearly 30 high-end homestay inns with about 500 rooms in Yangtianhu Yao Township. These homestay inns receive more than 200,000 guests a year, with an annual turnover of about 20 million yuan, which also provided nearly 5,000 job opportunities.
