Photinia fraseri, also known as red tip photinia, grows to be 12 to 18 feet tall and 8 to 12 feet wide. It is a fast-growing evergreen shrub with lush, glossy, green foliage, topped by brilliant red new growth. New leaves of Photinia fraseri turn to be red in spring and green in summer while in autumn, winter, and spring they are with red colors, sometimes in dark red with heavy frost and low temperature.

Duck palm wood, aiphyllium, which has yellow green leaves and many tight branches, shaped like a duck palm.

Melaleuca bracteata, is an evergreen shrub with soft and golden wattles in the whole year, never withered in cold winter. Its golden leaves turn to be taper shape with fragrant smell.

Atropurpureum, its leaves like palm shape, show red color in spring and autumn while purple in summer. New leaves turn to be red while old leaves aubergine in the whole year.

In recently three years, in order to create national garden city, Chenzhou has planted more species of plants. Atropurpureum, Photinia fraseri, palm bamboo, etc., flourish and each has its own merits, showing their elegant shapes to Chenzhou citizens.

With these green plants, Chenzhou’s city greening shows more unique features. However, citizens may be not so familiar with these new plants. Song Liguo-one of the experts of Chenzhou garden city establishment team was invited to teach citizens how to identify these plants.
