Qitian state-owned forest farm was established in 1958, covering an area of 92,900 mu (about 6,193 hectares). It’s an ecological public forest farm located in the northwest of the county, only 10 kilometers away from the county seat. In the Ming Dynasty, Xu Xiake once visited and wrote poems for the farm. General Xiao Ke once fought at Qitian Ridge.
Qitian Ridge is one of the five ridges of the Nanling mountains. There are 44 peaks above 1,000 meters above sea level, and the highest peak is 1,654 meters.
Sishanping Reservoir is the water source of residents in the county and surrounding areas. Yuxi River originates from Qitian Ridge and flows to the Pearl River, nourishing thousands of Yizhang people.
The forest farm has six working area, with lush trees and good biological diversity and well-preserved primitive forests. 96% of the forest farm is covered with forests. There are many kinds of wild animals and plants such as sandalwood, yew and pangolin.
It is the back garden of Yizhang County. Rich forest resources, like a natural ecological barrier, safeguard the water, soil and air safety of the county, and play an inestimable role in the ecological construction and protection of Yizhang.
