The Huilong Mountain Scenic Area is located in Huilongshan Yao Township of Zixing City, Chenzhou City. It is a branch of the Nanling and Luoxiao Mountains, with an altitude of 1,413 meters. It covers a total area of 20.2 square kilometers, with an annual average temperature of 18℃ and an average temperature of 23℃ in summer. It has been a summer resort in the southern Hunan since ancient times.
The Huilongxian Temple in the scenic area was first built in 190 AD. The cultural relic “Mianran Dashi” (a Buddhist god) unearthed from Huilongxian Temple has been verified by cultural relic experts as an object from the Eastern Han Dynasty and has a history of more than 1,800 years.
The Huilong Mountain boasts picturesque natural scenery all year round. Tourists can enjoy a sea of azaleas in spring, escape the heat in summer, enjoy the sunrise and sea of clouds in autumn, and appreciate rime and snow scenery in winter.
There is an ancient and mysterious Wangri Platform at the top of Huilong Mountain, where tourists can enjoy the sunrise, sunset, a sea of clouds, and rime, watch the misty Dongjiang Lake, the urban areas of Zixing, Yongxing, and Chenzhou in the distance.
The Huilong Mountain Scenic Area is about a 40-minute drive from the Dongjiang Lake Scenic Area, only 60 kilometers from the urban area of Chenzhou City, and 58 kilometers from the Beijing-Hong Kong-Macau Expressway exit, with convenient transportation.
More than 2,400 Yao people live in Huilongshan Yao Township. “Redeeming a Vow to Panwang” has been included among the fifth batch of national intangible cultural heritage projects. On the 16th day of the tenth lunar month every year, Yao people sing Yao songs, perform long-drum dances, and enjoy long-table banquets to celebrate the Panwang Festival.
Huilong Mountain integrates a-thousand-year religious history and culture, prayer culture, Yao culture, and agricultural culture, attracting visitors from all over the world.
At present, there is Yunduo Campsite, Yunju Hotel, and Yunduan Vacation Home in the scenic area, which can accommodate more than 1,000 people for overnight stays. The negative oxygen ion content in the air here reaches over 50,000 per cubic centimeter.
Yunduo Campsite integrates camping, barbecuing, leisure, and entertainment. Tourists can watch an outdoor movie, listen to a concert under the starry sky, pitch a tent, enjoy the natural scenery to relax themselves.
The newly built Yunduan Vacation Home with 42 buildings stand on cliffs, surrounded by green mountains on all sides. Tourists can enjoy a sea of clouds, sunrise, sunset, and starry sky in their rooms.
From April to May every year, wild azaleas bloom throughout the mountains, adding vitality and popularity to the scenic area.
