Winter is coming in Chenzhou. Mangshan Mountain in December is covered with rime. The unique rime scenes attract many tourists.
Mangshan Mountain in Yizhang County, Dongjiang Lake in Zixing City and Reshui Hot Spring in Rucheng County are the most representative of Chenzhou scenery.
Chenzhou, called Linyi in ancient times, means a city in the forest, and 70% of the city are covered with forests.
It’s a national excellent tourist city, a national leisure city, China’s city of hot springs and China’s capital of mineral crystals. Chenzhou enjoys rich tourist resources, with 46 national scenic spots.
Shazhou Red Scenic Area is located in Shazhou Yao Ethnic Village, Wenming Yao Ethnic Township, Rucheng County. It’s 60 km west away from Chenzhou City along Xiamen-Chengdu Expressway.
Here, the heartwarming story of “Half A Quilt” happened on the Long March of the Red Army. Now, Shazhou villagers continue to follow the spirits of Long March, and build Shazhou village into a Red characteristic tourist village. It has become an ideal place for Party members, cadres and people all over the country to receive the original mission education, and the first choice for young people’s patriotism education.
In Suxian District, Feitian Mountain National Geopark is featured with Danxia landform and karst caves, which is very popular with tourists.
Feitian Mountain National Geopark covers a total area of about 110 square kilometers, with complex geological structures and diverse geomorphic types. The green mountain, clear water, red cliffs, karst caves, hot springs and bamboo forests form a magnificent picture.
Xu Xiake, a famous traveler and geographer in the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), was amazed by Feitian Mountain for its beautiful scenery and unique peaks.
Apart from beautiful landscapes, Chenzhou also embraces alpine meadows. At the top of the mountain about 30 kilometers southwest of the urban areas, there is the boundless Yangtian Lake Grassland which was left from the Quaternary Period. Here you can see azaleas in spring, starry sky in summer, wandering cattle and horses in autumn and enveloping snow in winter. You can also ride a horse here while appreciating the beautiful scenery.
Chenzhou’s tourist resources include natural scenery, forest parks, geoparks, hot springs, historic sites, industrial tourism and so on—for example, Dongjiang Lake, a national first-class drinking water source and a national 5A scenic spot; Mangshan Mountain, the first primitive ecological mountain in China and the first barrier-free mountain scenic spot in China with the best-preserved primitive forests; and Wanhua Cave, known as the “world’s cave wonder” by American cave experts.
