Here are three two-day tours recommended in Guidong County, Chenzhou City, Hunan Province.

Opened in 1968, the memorial hall for the revolutionary activities of the Workers and Peasants Red Army in Guidong County is located at No.6 Hongjun Road, Oujiang Town. 

 

Important historical events and famous revolutionary figures of the Red Army in Guidong County, as well as the rapid development of the revolutionary old areas in Guidong County are displayed in the memorial hall.  

 

Tang’s Mansion, the former site of the expanded meeting of the front committee of the Fourth Red Army, is located in the courtyard of the memorial hall. It is a key cultural relics unit under national protection. It’s rated as a provincial patriotic education base, a provincial youth education base and a provincial social popularization base. 

 

The former site of the Fourth Red Army launching revolutionary activities in Pule Town is located in Dongshui Village, Pule Town, Guidong County, including the former site of the Fourth Red Army headquarters, the former residence of Zhu De, the former site of the Fourth Red Army’s arsenal, and the former site of the Fourth Red Army Hospital.

 

In August 1928, Zhu De and Chen Yi led the fourth Red army from Shatian to Dongshui Village and carried out revolutionary activities, and built the first township Party branch in Guidong County. 

 

They also actively carried out a mass movement to overthrow local tyrants and gentry, and set up a Red Army factory and a hospital nearby, starting the workers and peasants revolutionary movement in Guidong. 

 

This site is a place where the older generation of revolutionaries such as Zhu De and Chen Yi once fought, which is of historical significance.

 

The former residence of Deng Liqun is located in Liuyuan Village, Zhaiqian Town, Guidong County. It’s the ancestral home of Deng Liqun, former secretary of the Central Committee of the CPC.

 

The residence was first built during the Emperor Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty, with a construction area of 1,126 square meters. There are two rare indoor memorial archways in the former residence. 

 

On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Deng Liqun in 2015, Deng Liqun’s life story display hall was added on the right side of the former residence. In 2019, it was approved as a cultural relic unit under provincial protection. 

 

Longxi Waterfall is one of the eight ancient views in Guidong County. It’s located in Longxi Village, Xinfang Township of Guidong County. The waterfall is 126 meters high and 36 meters wide when the water rises. 

 

Guidong has been recognized by the Shanghai China Records Headquarters as the county with the highest negative oxygen ion content. And the highest concentration of negative oxygen ion was measured at Longxi Waterfall. 

 

Yuyue Hot Spring Holiday Hotel is located in Pingshui Village, Oujiang Town, Guidong County, only 3 km away from the county seat. It’s the first hot spring project in Guidong County. 

 

The hot spring of the hotel is from 1,770 meters underground, with a daily water output of 480 tons and a temperature of up to 40 degrees Celsius. It’s a sulfur hot spring, especially with a lithium ion content of 0.33 milligrams per liter in the water, which is rare in nature.

Qing’e Mountain is located at the junction of Zhaiqian Town and Sidu Town in Guidong County, with an altitude of 1,882 meters. Lilo Tea Tourism Park is located in Qingquan Town and Qiaotou Township of Guidong County, about 30 kilometers from the county seat and about 70 kilometers from Jinggang Mountain, with a total area of over 10,000 mu (666.67 hectares).

 

The park, which boasts beautiful scenery, allows visitors to experience tea picking and tea making. It’s an agricultural sightseeing and leisure tourism park that integrates ecology, sightseeing, leisure, culture and folk customs. 

 

Wanyang Mountain Scenic Area is 23 kilometers away from the county seat, with a total area of 22,500 mu (1,500 hectares). It’s mainly composed of alpine meadows, with an altitude between 1,000 meters and 1,888 meters. The main attractions in the scenic area include alpine meadows, azaleas, wind power sightseeing. The scenic area is equipped with leisure and vacation facilities such as rainbow camp, hotels and homestay inns. Qingzhu Village is located in Oujiang Town, Guidong County, 12 kilometers away from the county seat. It is the source of the Leishui River, with an average elevation of 1,230 meters. There are ancient Chinese yew trees more than 1,300 years old, which draw many tourists every year. 

 

The Military Regulations Red Agricultural Tourism Industrial Park is located in Shatian Town, Guidong County, covering an area of 1,200 mu (80 hectares). It’s a comprehensive agricultural tourism industrial sightseeing park with ecological agriculture and military regulations culture. 

 

The park is mainly planted with hybrid rice, and there are ornamental crops such as colored rice, sunflowers and lotus flowers. It also has basic leisure facilities like the children’s amusement park and walking trail. The cultural and artistic works on both sides of the trail present the development of the first military rule.
