Consultation symposium for“Decision on establishment of a national forest city and promotion of ‘forest Chenzhou’” (short for the decision) was held on August 20, 2012. Chenzhou Finance Bureau, Chenzhou Planning Bureau, Chenzhou Forestry Bureau and some relative departments attended this symposium.

In order to accelerate the speed of ecological civilization construction and improve urban and rural living conditions, Chenzhou municipal party committee and Chenzhou government decided to carry out the work on the establishment of a national forest city and promotion of forest construction from 2012, and would try best to improve Chenzhou city to be a “green pearl” on the boards of Hunan-Guangdong-Jiangxi province. According to the planning, there would be 66% forest coverage, 51 million cubic meters of forest stock volumes, and 11 square meters of green areas per capita after fulfilling the establishment target. Guided by the goals, Chenzhou government will focus on six key projects such as “Chen-Zi-Gui & Chen-Yong-Yi” urban agglomeration greening project, the protection and retreatment project for areas surrounding Dongjianghu lake, the upgrading project for fragile ecological areas, etc..

All the attendants raised their suggestions and modification comments on the content, target setting, and wording of“the decision”.

Chenzhou municipal leaders- He Wenjun and Lei Xiaoda were presented at the symposium and delivered their speeches there.
