It was learned from Yongxing County Building Housing Bureau that Banliang ancient village, Gaoting town, Yongxing County, Chenzhou city was named in the list of the first batch of Chinese traditional villages. All those villages were discharged by the State Ministry of Building Housing and Urban & Rural Construction, the State Cultural Ministry, and the State Financial Ministry. Because of its scientific, cultural, historical and archaeology significances representing the characteristics of local areas, nations and specific periods, Banliang ancient village was selected into the list.

There were 646 villages selected in the first batch list while 30 villages were from Hunan province. 17 of them were from Xiangxi Autonomous and the rest were from Huaihua, Shaoyang, Yongzhou, Chenzhou, Yiyang, and Zhangjiajie.
