The opening ceremony of Ninth China (Beijing) International Garden Expo was held on May 18, 2013. Compared with some other cities abundant experience in taking part in such international park expo, it was the first show for Chenzhou this year.

It was introduced by Xiao Jianfu- the principal of preparation for “Chenzhou Park” in the expo park that China International Garden Expo is the top and biggest international level expo of China and it is co-held by the Ministry of Construction and regional government every two years. Generally speaking, the period for China International Garden Expo is about 6 months. The Ninth China (Beijing) International Garden Expo was held by Beijing city with the area of 267 hectares in the greening ecological development belt of Fengtai district. 128 parks from domestic and abroad would be exhibited in this expo. 5 of them were from Hunan province.

Chenzhou park was set in the modern park zone with 1060 square meters. 2.68 million yuan was placed on the construction of this park. It was a unique Chinese character for 郴 （Chen）, so in order to make the word to be more popular and well known to people, a logo with seal character of 郴 （Chen）was placed on the entrance of Chenzhou park. Special cultural elements of Chenzhou as blessing were highlighted in the decoration of the park to impress the visitors with a unique feeling of Chenzhou city’s culture.

As we know, Chenzhou is the training center for Chinese women volleyball team. The park was also decorated with this theme to attract visitors’ attention.
