It was learned from the service center of Dongjiang lake, Zixing city that 2800 tickets of Dongjiang drifting for the weekend of July 20 and 21 were booked out three days earlier. More tourists were attracted there to enjoy the ecological tourism after the establishment of national ecological tourism demonstration zone of Dongjiang lake, especially during this hot season of tourism.

National ecological tourism demonstration zone was a selection activity launched by the State Tourism Bureau and Environmental Protection Ministry in 2011. Zixing city launched the construction work for the establishment of national ecological tourism demonstration zone of Dongjiang lake at the same year and planned to finish it within 2 years. A “ten billion yuan investment project of tourism” was implemented on this plan, which greatly helped to upgrade the infrastructure of Dongjiang lake landscape. The tertiary industry was promoted as well with the development of the tourism industry of Dongjiang lake.

At the meantime, stronger environmental protection issues were handled out in Dongjiang lake, such as the relocation project, heavy metal pollution retreatment, afforestation work, application of favorable policies, tourism festival, media propaganda, and etc. All of those helped to upgrade the popularity of Dongjiang lake and attract more tourists come here. According to the data, 2.375 million tourists abroad and domestic visited Zixing city in the first half year of 2013, up 60.04%. Its total tourism revenue hit 1.529 billion yuan, up 54.91%
