Zixing city was in the finalist of “Chinese eco-city recommended by global netizens”

Internet voting result of “2013 Chinese Cities” was released on August 2, 2013. 4.04 million votes (89.27% was from oversea) were received by Zixing city during the three-months voting period, which was last less than Guiyang city- the capital of Guizhou province. Such high rate enabled Zixing city to be enrolled in the finalist of “Chinese eco-city recommended by global netizens”. Zixing city was the exclusive one from Hunan province.

This voting was hosted by China Radio International with the guidance of the State Council Information Office. Great many netizens from worldwide paid much attention on this activity and selected out the one they considered the best eco-cities of China. Finally, Zixing city and other nine cities as Guiyang, Weihai, Xiamen, Chengde, Beihai, Xichang, Yingtan, E’erguna and Baoting were in the finalist. According to the time schedule, the rewarding ceremony of “2013 Chinese Cities- Eco-cities recommended by global netizens” would be held in September.

In recent years, by playing the best role of national resources of Dongjiang lake, Zixing city won great achievements on eco-city construction with protection of Dongjiang lake’s ecological environment. Every year, 200 million yuan would be invested in the retreatment of sewage treatment, regulation of mineral industries around Dongjiang lake, and other protection measures for Dongjiang lake. With this great efforts, Dongjiang lake was well-protected and kept its original ecological features. At the meantime, more methods were carried out to upgrade the overall condition of Zixing city to keep green and ecological condition of the city itself.
