Compared with the unbearable hot weather in the cities around China, the temperature of Guidong county- famous as “natural air conditioner and oxygen bar” was kept around 20℃. Because of this refreshing feature, a large number of tourists were gathered here to spend the summer.

Guidong county was with sound natural ecological condition and subtropical humid monsoon climate. It was the county with highest elevation in Hunan province that average elevation was 881meters and its downtown elevation was 824meters. Due to the abundant original forest and secondary forest of about 82.36% forest coverage, its annual average temperature was around 15.4℃. That was also the reason for its high rate of negative oxygen ion in the air. It was identified as the “county with highest negative oxygen ion in China”by Shanghai Great World Guinness headquarter. Furthermore, it was named as one of“China’s best eco-tourism demonstration counties”.

Besides the natural resources, there were rich human cultural resources in Guidong county, especially for the red culture. Mao Zedong, Zhude, Peng Dehuai and other older generation proletarian revolutionaries had been to Guidong county. When reporters arrived at Shatian town- the issuing place of the first military regulations, some special commemorate places attracted their eyes.

It was learned from the principal of Guidong county’s tourism department that because of this low temperature and comfortable weather condition in Guidong count’s summer, more visitors selected Guidong as the summer resort to spend their summer. Santaishan mountain, Wanyangxiangsi prairie, Shantian Wanshou Palace, Qing’e fairy, and other famous landscapes of Guidong county were visited by many tourists every day. According to the statistic, 0.67 million visitors have come to Guidong county since the beginning of this year till now. It was estimated that more than 1 million tourists would go there this year.
