As you can see from above image, some performers were rehearsing a traditional Hunan Kunqu opera named “capture of Sanlang” in the ancient stage of Daxi village, Huangshaping sub-district, Guiyang county.

It was learned that national Kunqu opera performance would be held in Chenzhou city in this July. Guiyang where is famous as the birthplace of “Hunan Kunqu opera”- one of world intangible cultural heritages is with 400-year history of the development of Kunqu opera. By combining with local cultural feature, Guiyang Kunqu opera is with unique Hunan and Guiyang characteristics. In order to impress the audience with more understandable Kunqu operas, Guiyang county’s Kunqu opera troupe applied more modern elements on the traditional opera. Till now, 70 traditional theatrical pieces have been rehearsed by the troupe.
