It was learned from Chenzhou Tourism Bureau that the quarter-final of 2014 Hunan Tour Guide Contest would be held in Rucheng Jiulongjiang National Forest Park on August 25, 2014. 120 tour guides from the cities of Hunan province would compete with each other on the contest then.

It was introduced that thousands of travel agencies and over 30,000 tour guides paid great attention on this contest. 3000 competitors attended the contest from the launching ceremony in this May 18. 120 tour guides finally qualified to step to the quarter-final after 19 earlier stage contests. 7 of them were from Chenzhou City.

The key feature of the quarter-final for the contest was similar as former contests handled in earlier year. It was the PK on live-action interpretation. 12 interpretations would be prepared by the landscape which held the quarter-final. All competitors’ interpretation would be confirmed by drawing lots. 2 competitors who got the same interpretation topic would PK with each other. This PK step was the most important part of the quarter-final for it covered the highest percentage of the final mark. So this step could greatly influence the competitor’s final mark. Of course, this step could well test the competitors’ psychological quality and their abilities on the interpretation.

Hunan Tour Guide Contest is a regular contest which would be held in Hunan province every two years. Because of its high quality, it was famous as “Oscar of tourism industry”. That’s why it can attract so many first-class tour guides from the cities of Hunan province to attend the contest. Chenzhou Jiulongjiang National Park was one of the three sites for the quarter-finals. The other two sites were Chengtoushan of Lilin county and Huitang Hot Spring of Ningxiang county. The final would be held on September 25, 2014.
