3600 seats to be available the
Design sketch for the upgraded version of Chenzhou high speed train station
Tasting Guangdong breakfast in the morning and enjoying fireworks of Orange Island in the evening that Chenzhou people’s life was greatly changed by the operation of Wuguang high speed train. Assisted with the high speed train, Chenzhou city was covered into “one-hour economic circle” with Changsha city and Guangzhou city and it got closer relationship with the two city clusters of Changzhutan and the Pearl River Delta. It was helpful to lay sound foundation for Chenzhou city to handle undertaking industrial transfer. As one of the important components of high speed train, Chenzhou Xi station of Wuguang high speed train played a very important role for it. But because of the operation of Jingguang high speed train, more passengers chose to take high speed train. The facilities and scale of Chenzhou Xi station were not sufficient to meet the demands of passengers.
“Upgrading” the total budget investment for this project was amounted to 140million yuan
It was learned that ticket center and waiting hall of current Chenzhou Xi station are too small that can’t meet passengers demand well. The ticket center is just 260 square meters big, so some passengers need to queue outside the hall. In the peak season, some passengers can only sit on the floor of waiting hall to wait for their trains. The flow lines are not clearly marked that vehicles to seeing people off or picking up people are stopped on the 9 meters wide road in front of the station, or even queued till Zenghu road in the peak season. Furthermore, the parking spaces are not sufficient that passengers often need to queue outside the parking lot and wait for vacancies. For some passengers, they even just park their cars on the road sides.
In order to solve the problems, the upgrading project of Chenzhou Xi station was launched in this January and was estimated to be finished in the end of 2016. The upgrading project would be carried out on the premise of keeping current station buildings and square in front of the station and not affecting the normal use of current station. It was aimed to upgrade Chenzhou Xi station to be a functional, orderly and sound regional station with the capacity of passenger flow of 50,000person/day by expanding the function buildings, well setting the flow lines, adjusting transportation facilities and increasing parking spaces.
The contents concerned for the project are as follow: the reinforcement and reconstruction for station buildings which change functions; an annex building would be built in both south and north sides of the station buildings, covering 19,466 square meters, 8326 square meters of which are for original buildings and 11,140 square meters are for new ones (8819 square meters are above-ground buildings and 2321 square meters are underground buildings); 7080 square meters of open type roads would be built; the reconstruction areas for lanes and sites would be about 29,699 square meters; and some supporting facilities would be upgraded as well. The total budget investment for this project was amounted to 140million yuan.
“Convenience” 3600 seats would be facilitated on the upgraded station
It was planned to divide two waiting areas for passengers who direct to southern and northern China. An annex building would be built in both south and north sides of the station buildings for the upgraded version of Chenzhou Xi station. The first floor of north annex building is ticket center and 2nd & 3rd floors are offices. The ground floor of south annex building is the check-out hall, first floor is VIP waiting hall, and 2nd & 3rd floors are offices for the traffic police. Each building covered about 50m*50m areas, which would be coordinate with the original buildings and cooperate with original functions. Once the annex buildings finished, the offices, police station, VIP rooms, ticket center, and etc. would be moved from original buildings, while the devices rooms would be kept there. The waiting areas would be expanded to 7000 square meters based on original 2000 square meters, while the seats would be increased to 3600 ones from original 800 ones.
Separate entrance/ exit would be set for different function areas as ticket center, waiting hall, check-in/out, shop, office, police station, and etc., which was purposely to ensure all can play their functions independently. The entrance of ticket center would be set in the east area of the north annex building. Passengers can go to waiting hall via a gallery connected with the ticket center. Some shops would be facilitated in the waiting hall. For the passengers who have bought ticket, they can go to waiting hall from the east side of current station building. For VIP passengers, they can go to VIP waiting hall from the south side of current station building. The underground floor of south annex building would be facilitated with exit channel and check-out hall. The entrance for offices, apartments and businesses would be set in the west side of the north annex building, while the entrance for police station and traffic police force would be set in the south side of the south annex building.
“Planning” overpass ramps would be facilitated to the upgraded station to reach bypass flows
Concerned for the chaotic flow lines, it planned to reach the bypass flows for cars to seeing off and picking up and for passengers check-in and check-out. The 8 meters wide greening area of slope which was set between the road in front of the station buildings and square would be removed and reconstructed to be 2-floor overpass ramps. The upper floor would be the expanded part of the channel in front of the station buildings. The road in front of the station buildings can be upgraded to 17 meters wide (5 lanes) from original 9 meters wide (3 lanes). At the meantime, a 3 meters wide pavement would be facilitated on the east side. The bottom floor would be channel for taxies. Once finished, the upper and bottom floor would be separated as channel to seeing off and picking up, which would reach the bypass flow of the vehicles.
