It was learned from Yizhang Land and Resources Bureau that Mangshan National Forest Park was approved to be named as Hunan Provincial Geological Park based on the file issued by Hunan Provincial Land and Resources Bureau. A stele of geological park was set in the main area of the park.

Yizhang county figured out the general planning for geological park after Mangshan National Park being authorized to handle the construction of Hunan provincial geological park by Hunan Provincial Land and Resources Bureau in December, 2011. It set up geological relic list for 46 geological relics and set 12 boundary markers in the boundaries; it built Mangshan Geological Park Museum to show the features of geological relics and popularize the geological knowledge; it drew up the tourist map for the geological park, including 4 scientific investigation and science education travelling routes and 46 explanation boards of scenic spots; and it produced a propaganda film of geological science popularization and some popular science readings for the primary and middle school students.

It would be helpful to provide better chances for the protection and development of geological relic resources, and education of geological knowledge on establishing Hunan Mangshan Provincial Geological Park. In next step, it would try to submit to be approved as national geological park.

It was introduced that the Mount Mang is about 20000 hectares, which is the largest national forest park of Hunan province. Its granite landform is one of the ten world level geological relics of Hunan province, which keeps a record of the history of the earth and its evolution.
