It was reported that leadership conference for national water conservancy landscapes was held by the State Water Conservancy Ministry on November 17, 2015. Dongjiang Lake Landscape was approved to be the 15th batch of national water conservancy landscape which is another new national level plague won by the landscape ( the first is national 5A landscape).It was learned that Dongjiang Lake is the second national water conservancy landscape available in Chenzhou city.

National water conservancy landscape refers to the area which is available for sightseeing, entertainment, leisure, vocation or science, culture and education activities with the approval of the review committee for water conservancy landscape of the State Water Conservancy Ministry. There are different national water conservancy landscapes as water reservoir, wetland, natural river and lake, urban river and lake, irrigation, water and soil conservation, and etc. Till September 16, 2014, 658 water conservancy landscapes were confirmed in China, 26 of which are from Hunan province. Bianjiang water conservancy landscape of Yongxing county, Chenzhou city was approved as the first one of Chenzhou city.

Dongjiang Lake water conservancy landscape is a large-scale water conservancy landscape replied on Dongjiang Water Reservoir. It is about 312.75 square meters big, 165.13 square meters of which are for the water surface areas. It is a large-scale (I grade) water reservoir with the comprehensive benefits as flood control, electricity supply, water supply, tourism, shipping, and etc. and regulation function over years. Its normal pool level is 285 meters, normal storage capacity is 8.12billion cubic meters, and water surface area is 160square kilometers. It is the regulator for the flood and drought control and diluter of water pollution of downstream of Xiangjiang river. Furthermore, Dongjiang Lake is full of unique natural and cultural scenic spots. It is the exclusive tourism destination with 6 national plagues as national ecological tourism demonstration, national 5A landscape, national tourism resort, national forest park, national wetland park, and national water conservancy landscape in Hunan province.
