It was reported that the event of enjoying Kunqu opera in Chenzhou city- commemorating the 400th anniversary of Tang Xianzu’s death was launched in Hunan Kunqu Classical Theater on March 5, 2016. Though it was raining at that night, the fans of Kunqu opera from Guangdong, Jiangxi, Fujian and other provinces were gathered in the theater.

In order to carry forward Kunqu opera non-intangible cultural heritage, enhance the cultural exchanges, and improve local cultural performance, Chenzhou city held the event of enjoying Kunqu opera in Chenzhou city- commemorating the 400th anniversary of Tang Xianzu’s death in this March. According to the time schedule, Hunan Kunqu Opera Troupe will perform some shows worked by Tang Xianzu- the famous dramatist of Ming Dynasty of China at every weekend of this March. The young performers from Shanghai Kunqu Opera Troupe, Northern Kunqu Opera Theater, Zhangjun Kunqu Opera Art Center, China Kunqu Opera Museum were invited to perform a special show with the young performers of Hunan Kunqu Opera Troupe. Audience can enjoy the elegant Kunqu operas on their trip there.

At that night, Hunan Kunqu Opera Troupe and Northern Kunqu Opera Theater performed three classic selected scenes together, which were highly appreciated by the audience. Some fans from Changsha city, Fujian province, and other places clustered to enjoy the shows in Chenzhou city. Xiao Ming- Head of Hunan Symphony Orchestra and National Primary Conductor stated that: “sincerely hope can have the chance to work together with Hunan Kunqu Opera Troupe.”

It was introduced that some young performers of Shanghai Kunqu Opera Troupe will perform shows in Chenzhou city next week. The audience who add Hunan Kunqu Opera Troupe’s public Wechat into their list can be favored with 20% discount of the ticket.
