“I like Guidong county’s livable climate. Now entertainment center, foods, and landscapes are available here. It is being improved to be tourism county,” said Mr. Huang Guotao who was a retired teacher from Changsha city. He was checking in Linglong Hotel when met with the reporters. As introduced by Mr. Huang, he traveled to Guidong county every year with his wife. In the early summer, more visitors are traveling there.

In recent years, Guidong county tried great efforts on the expansion of urban area. It placed 3.6billion yuan investment on the urban construction, especially on the expansion and upgrading of central downtown. Some remarkable buildings as Dongfanghong city complex, education area, and etc. were built there. In the meantime, upgrading and reconstruction of urban roads, comprehensive market of eastern area, comprehensive development of southern area, infrastructure construction of northern area, reconstruction of shanty area of western area, and other projects were fully promoted there. It collected 300million yuan by PPP mode for the construction of four large parking lots in the four areas and a parking lot in north gate of Santaishan Park. Furthermore, it placed 800million yuan on the improvement of “smart city”, pipelines of urban water supply system, ring-county roads, and etc.

“Guidong county is with great changes in recent years. Besides park offices and park residential communities, green and clean streets and some public facilities are available there,” introduced by Grandpa Li who lives in Donghua community, Oujiang town, Guidong county. As he remembered, Guidong county was used to be with narrow streets, poor greening environment, and old buildings.

In order to upgrade the level of Guidong county, local government carried out the projects of purifying, greening, beautifying, lighting up, and ordering. 16 parks, gardens, squares, scenery belt, green lands, and etc. were built in the downtown, which granted the county with a beautiful image of “blue sky, green land, clear water, beautiful city”. In the meantime, it paid closer attention on the comprehensive treatment of urban management. It issued “ten prohibitions” to keep sound sanitary and transportation condition of the county. Furthermore, it introduced some new energy enterprises via the market-oriented operation model and carried out integration service for refuse classification, comprehensive treatment, and sanitary cleaning. Currently, the rate of harmless treatment rate of domestic refuse is up to 100% and the sewage treatment rate is 75%.

Guidong county was enrolled into the list of China’s first batch of establishment of “national popular tourism demonstrations” for its sound harmonious environment of county and sceneries. Thanks to the upgrading of county image, more and more visitors traveled there to enjoy the comfortable climate “warm in winter and cool in summer”. From this January to May, 1.066million visitors traveled to Guidong county, contributing 439million yuan tourism revenue, up 26.2% and 23.6% respectively.
