It was reported that Qu Hai- Deputy Secretary of Chenzhou Municipal Party Committee and Mayor of Chenzhou City and Martika- Mayor of Kimberley, South Africa signed a sister city agreement on behalf of their cities, which indicated the official establishment of sister city relation between two cities.

Before the signing ceremony, Qu Hai met Martika and his delegation. Qu Hai said there is sound friendship between Chenzhou and South Africa for a long time. In 2003, Chenzhou set an office in Johannesburg. Last September 23, Chenzhou and Kimberley signed the intention agreement on establish sister city relation, which indicated new stage for two cities. In recent years, closer cooperation was being improved between Chenzhou city and South Africa, especially Kimberley. Many merchants and guests from Kimberley attended 3rd and 4th CMGS held in Chenzhou city.

Qu Hai said there is great potential for further cooperation on development of gems, tourism, culture, education, city management, and etc. between two cities. Deeper cooperation on economy and talent would be further improved after the this delegation's trip to Chenzhou city. Qu hoped that a win-win cooperation can reach between two cities by sharing ideas and further cooperation. Qu also expressed his sincere wishes for Kimberley city and its citizens and wished the long live friendship between two cities.

Martika highly expected better cooperation between two cities on mineral, tourism, and agriculture industries which are the traditional advantageous industries of Kimberley city. He also hoped some more advanced experience on waste recycling, city management, and etc. can be shared by Chenzhou city, and closer communication can be reached between the universities and institutes of two cities.

Martika invited Qu Hai to visit Kimberley for better understanding and cooperation between two cities. Some municipal leaders of Chenzhou city attended relative activities.
