The results for the selection of 2016 2nd “China Forest Oxygen Bar” were released recently. 47 units were enrolled into the list, 4 of which were from Hunan Province. Chenzhou Dongjiang Lake National Wetland Park was of the four.

Dongjiang Lake National Wetland Park which is located in the south area of Zixing City is the upstream of Leishui which is one of the branches of Xiangjiang River. It covers with 48,000hectares. The forest coverage rate of it is over 90%; annual average rate of Pm2.5 is 0.010mg/m3; annual overall level of ambient air quality is qualified as national 1st grade, excellent grade. Dongjiang Lake placed important roles on drinking water source, ecological water supplement for Xiangjiang River, flood control, protection of the diversity of biologics, generating of electricity, and etc. after being placed to water storage in 1986. It is a significant strategic resource of Hunan province “two oriented society”.

In order to protect the lake, Chenzhou City established special department to handle the protection work. “One lake, one policy” project and loans obtained from Asian Development Bank were integrated to be Dongjiang Lake Ecological Environment Protection project which is covered with 1.6billion yuan in total. In the meantime, legislation, scientific management system, propaganda, comprehensive treatment, and different measures were applied to establish the long-term protection mechanism. It is helpful to further popularize the fame of Dongjiang Lake after being enrolled into the list of “China Forest Oxygen Bars”.
