On December 2nd, thousands of people gathered in Ailian Square of Rucheng County to welcome the 2017 China (Rucheng) Mountain Outdoor Fitness and Leisure Conference together with Mao Zedong's niece Mao Xiaoqing, Zhu De's grandson Liu Kang, Peng Dehuai's grandnephew Zhang Feng and others. The Municipal Standing Committee and Vice Mayor Pang Tao announced the opening of conference.

It was reported that this event was the closing ceremony of 2017 China (Hunan) Red Tourism Cultural Festival, which lasted for two days, attracting more than 2000 outdoor sports enthusiasts all over the country. The event with the theme of "The great man's hometown, half quilt story, warm China" included the opening ceremony, fitness hiking and taking the long march road, red theme party, bicycle traversing the Jiulong River League and other activities. The activity sites covered the Shazhou Red Tourist Attractions, Rucheng Reshui Hot Spring Scenic Spot, Jiulong River National Forest Park, Yanshou Yao Nationality Village, Jingpo Town and Sanjiangkou Yao Nationality Town, fully interpreting the development charm of "sports + tourism" in Rucheng.

In recent years, Rucheng County basing on the advantages of region, ecology, resources, climate and so on, actively explored the new path of the integration and development of sports and tourism industry, and organized the "Red triangle" Tent Festival, Rally Championship, International Youth Men's basketball Atlas Series, Trail Walker and other activities, favored and sought after by many sports enthusiasts.

Through organizing a series of sports theme events, the county has integrated the local attractions, urban features and natural environment to build up a new tourism mode with sports, leisure and healthy culture, achieving the mutual promotion of sports theme activities and tourism development.
