The historical Yuhou Street has been renovated since the end of last year, which is also the only one in south Hunan among the 9 historical pedestrian streets of the whole province. This year, the Administrative Committee of Yuhou Street has made significant achievements in improving this pedestrian street.
The Administrative Committee of Yuhou Street has carried out renovation work for 22 signboards on the street which now looks clearer with accurate translation and lighting function and can provide better guidance for visitors. Moreover, 40 intelligent liftable piles have been installed in the entrances of Yuhou Street, Gancheng Street, Yuhoujie Square and some other places, allowing people to enjoy a more convenient and safer life. The main parts and important entrances of Gancheng Street and Yuhou Street have been fully checked and the damaged pavements have also been restored.
Yuhou Street presents two different sides for us. During the day, it is a peaceful and simple century-old street, where tourists can feel the profound history and culture when walking on it. However, when the night comes, it shows another side with bright lights. Along the street, clean tables and chairs are put in order outside the restaurants, where beer, crayfishes, skewers and other delicious food are well prepared. The stores also set up stalls outside along Chenjiang River.
This year, the Administrative Committee of Yuhou Street has innovated the management mode, enriched the night economy and explored ways to attract customers by guiding the businesses to purchase tables and chairs with unified and unique styles, and engrave the words “birthplace of Chenzhou City, and century-old Yuhou Street” on the tables and chairs, making them a beautiful scene of the street. In Addition, businesses are encouraged to decorate the stall areas according to their own characteristics so as to draw in more customers. Here under the sheds, among green plants and flowers, visitors can enjoy delicious food, or talk freely, or read alone.
The Administrative Committee of Yuhou Street creates a theme lighting landscape based on Suxian Legend (a herbal medicine practitioner Su Dan became an immortal ascending to heaven by riding a white crane) to cater to young consumers, which not only attracts a number of tourists, but allows them to know about the filial piety, Taoism and traditional Chinese medicine culture through the introduction.
