The 2021 Hunan Provincial (Summer) Rural Cultural Tourism Festival will be opened on July 30 in Yangtian Lake Grassland, Beihu District, Chenzhou City.

Yangtian Lake Grassland is located at the top of a high mountain at an altitude of more than 1,300 meters, hence the name. It is an extinct volcanic crater from the Quaternary glacial period. Known as the Hulunbuir Grassland in the south, Yangtian Lake Grassland is one of the top destinations for tourists from southern Hunan and Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau.
"The cool Yangtian Lake Grassland is a natural air conditioner in summer," said Luo Chenghui, Party Secretary of Beihu District. Yangtian Lake Grassland is not only the southernmost alpine grassland in China, but also the best place for stargazing in the south. The grassland is surrounded by lush sub-primitive forest, with both flaming red rhododendrons and trees covered by silvery rime ice. Moreover, the Yangtian Lake Grassland is inhabited by the hospitable Yao people who are good at singing and dancing. The unique customs, architecture and cuisine of the Yao people together with the natural scenery provide visitors with an unforgettable travel experience.

According to Huang Donghong, Deputy Director of Hunan Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, the Rural Cultural Tourism Festival held in Yangtian Lake Grassland aims to continuously enhance the visibility and reputation of Hunan's cultural tourism in Hunan, Guangdong and Jiangxi provinces, and promote the development of Hunan's cultural tourism economy. This year's Rural Cultural Tourism Festival includes an opening ceremony, three grand events on yoga, camping, outdoor fitness and leisure, and three contests on short video, food and cultural and creative products.

Beihu District is famous for its long history and profound culture. It is not only the place where Shennong (God of Farming) made agricultural tools and the Qin and Han dynasties passed by on their way to conquer southern China, but also the starting point of General Deng Hua's revolutionary journey and the training base of Chinese women's volleyball team which won five championships in a row. Beilu District is home to rich tourism resources, such as Wanhua Cave, West River, Yangtian Lake Grassland and Longnv Hot Spring. It is a National Excellent Self-driving Tourism Destination and a National Tourism Standardization Demonstration Area.
