During the National Day holiday, Chenzhou City received a total number of 5.424 million tourists, up 2.5% year on year, with a total tourism revenue of 4.34 billion yuan, up 21.9 percent, according to statistics from Chenzhou Municipal Bureau of Culture, Tourism, Radio and Sports.
The red tourism saw a pickup. On October 1, the National Day ceremony was held around the country to celebrate the motherland's birthday, which aroused the patriotic enthusiasm of the cadres and masses and promoted the spirit of patriotism. Shazhou Village, Guidong Military Square, Xiangnan Uprising Memorial Hall, Guiyang Party Education and Training Base and the Former Residence of Zhu Liangcai are good places to promote the red education and show a deep bond between the army and people. These places saw an increasing number of tourists during the National Day.
All-for-one tourism achieved good grades. Major scenic spots in the city launched kinds of holiday activities successively such as a short video competition in Wuzhi Peak scenic spot of Mangshan Mountain and the selection of the most beautiful tourist routes in Beihu District. The royal circus in Jiulongjiang Scenic Spot in Rucheng County attracted a large number of tourists from other places, which led to the high occupancy rate of hotels and homestays. Citizens went to visit some scenic spots in peri-urban areas to enjoy the golden autumn.
The Wechat public account of Chenzhou Municipal Bureau of Culture, Tourism, Radio and Sports continuously released a series of tweets every day to increase Chenzhou’s visibility. The exhibition of intangible cultural heritage items, the Forth Folk Custom Festival, National Day gala and cultural activities for the masses were held at the Changjuan Historical and Cultural Block of Chenzhou City, making it possible that people can appreciate the beautiful scenery of Chenzhou and learn about the local cultural in an all-round way.
Those activities further stimulated the city’s tourism market. The Ninth China International Mineral Exposition and Cultural and Tourism Promotion Conference not only set up a platform for the cultural and tourism industry to attract investment, but also promoted cultural tourism during the holiday.
Since Chenzhou created a national cultural and tourism consumption pilot city last year, it has vigorously promoted the cultural tourism consumption. During the National Day, major shopping malls and urban complexes launched promotion activities. Counties (cities, districts) held a series of activities such as Chenzhou’s Food Festival, singing red songs and many others, which boosted the night tour economy of Chenzhou.
