From 2019 to 2021, 23 characteristic culture tourism towns have been selected in Hunan province. Great efforts have been made for each town to enhance cultural connotation, promote the integration of culture and tourism, highlight characteristic industries, advance industrial prosperity, strengthen innovation of service system and management mechanism and expand brand influence. In 2020, the total revenue of the cultural tourism towns in the whole province was about 16.7 billion yuan, with the tax revenue of 990 million yuan and 36.59 million tourist arrivals, contributing to poverty alleviation.
