During December 2 to 4, the third Yizhang Huang Shihao Cultural Tourism Festival and the first Red Cultural Tourism Festival, as well as the first Tea Oil Festival, were held in Shihu Mountain Scenic Area, Jiangshui Town, Yizhang County.
Shihu Mountain lies at the southeast foot of Qitian Ridge of Wuling Mountains, and got its name for its shape, which looks like a crouching tiger.
Since the Ming and Qing Dynasties, Shihu Mountain has become a scenic spot with Wuling Marquis Temple as the center. The sacrifice ceremony for Huang Shihao on the second day of the eleventh month in the lunar calendar is listed as the intangible cultural heritage of Chenzhou.
Shihu Mountain being the festival venue is aimed at further promoting the development of cultural tourism and oil tea industry in the county, strengthening the development and utilization of Huang Shihao's history and culture and the county's red culture, improving the taste of tourism culture, and vigorously contributing to the effort of Shihu Mountain being upgraded to a 4A scenic area.
Based on inheriting revolutionary genes, promoting loyalism culture and tasting tea oil delicacies, there were colorful activities, such as opening ceremony, giant sweet potato Ciba making, produce exhibition, sacrifice ceremony for Huang Shihao, and opening ceremony of red tea garden project.
The launch ceremony for the Nanling Mountains Corridor Rural Revitalization Research Institute of Xiangnan University, and the signing ceremony of digital village pilot project between Yizhang Branch of China Unicom and Jiangshui Town were also held at the site.
In recent years, Yizhang County has been developing rural tourism based on rich red culture and ecological resources, facilitating integrated development of red tourism and rural tourism, and increasing the development level of all-for-one tourism.
The county has planted more than 260,000 mu (about 17333.3 hectares) of navel orange, 106,000 mu (about 7066.6 hectares) of oil tea and 66,000 mu (4400 hectares) of tea, which has boosted the rural tour mainly based on flower appreciation, fruit picking and tasting. "Yizhang black Tea", "Yizhang oil tea" and "Yizhong navel orange" have become prominent regional brands with an output value of more than 10 billion yuan.
The successful holding of the festivals further promoted the cultural tourism brand of Yizhang County, and helped Yizhang to step on a new stage of building a strong tourism county and rural revitalization. It also further displayed the red culture, carried forward the revolutionary traditions, made new and greater contributions to the high-quality economic and social development of the county.
