Recently, an endless stream of tourists came to visit the former residence of Xiao Ke in Xiaojietian Village, Yuanjia Town, Jiahe County.
Zeng Xiaoquan, director of the county’s cultural relics protection center, said that the number of tourists to visit the former residence and hold themed Party activities has doubled after its renovation, and 100,000 tourists have been welcomed this year.
Jiahe lies in the heart of Hunan, Guangdong and Jiangxi provinces, where CPC Jiahe County Special Branch—the first local organization of the Communist Party of China in Chenzhou City—was built. Peasant movements were launched, the armed force of Xiangnan was built, and many famous revolutionary martyrs like the first general Xiao Ke, Tang Chaoying and Huang Yishan were born here. The red army also left important footprints here in the Long March. The revolutionary martyrs with their blood and lives contributed to rich revolution-themed resources.
The county has deeply explored the revolutionary cultural resources, protected and developed such red attractions as Xiao Ke’s Former Residence, Martyrs Cemetery and Martyr Yin Zishao’s Tomb.
Now, Jiahe County is the home to 1 national key cultural relics protection unit and 8 provincial cultural relics protection units. Xiao Ke’s Former Residence has been rated as the provincial patriotism education base.
What’s more, the county joined hands with Hunan Oversea Travel and launched the Xiao Ke’s Former Residence—Huatian Zhudu Swimming Natatorium route, creating an in-depth experience tour route involving listening to revolutionary stories, enjoying Jiahe folk songs and tasting Xiangnan delicacies.
