Streets in Changsha are crowded with people, who have to line up for meals. Mt. Yuelu received 30,000 people per day on average, and Hunan Museum has been booked up before July 17.
The Tianmen Mountain Scenic Area in Zhangjiajie received 132,800 people from July 1 to July 11 with a year-on-year increase of 386%. Qiman Yuelingu Homestay Inn is almost fully booked every day.
Fenghuang Ancient Town received more than an average of 30,000 tourists per day last weekend. Jishou Yulong International Hotel enjoyed an occupancy rate of 80% in June.
Hunan tourism market has been booming since the trans-provincial tourism resumed at the end of May and the star on travel code was cancelled at the end of June. The tourism market was once in recession because of the epidemic. However, the tourism has heated up since the arrival of this summer holiday.
Tourists return to the scenic areas with targeted epidemic prevention and control
It’s learned that Zhangjiajie, as an international tourism city, is generally dominated by tourists from other provinces, which accounts for about 60% of the whole number of tourists. Qin Mu, the owner of an aesthetic homestay inn, said that tourists are mainly from Hunan Province at present, while fewer tourists come from other provinces.
Travel agencies still need to wait for comprehensive recovery
The travel agency business can only be said to be at the beginning stage compared with the strong revival of scenic areas and hotels, according to Li Li, secretary general of Hunan Travel Agency Association.
“The number of people who consulted and applied for registration has increased significantly since June. The business volume reached about 13 million from mid-June to mid-July and the passenger reception volume amounted to 28,640, with an increase of ten times over the previous month. Among them, the income of the trans-provincial tourism accounted for 73%,” said Peng Songhua, chairman of Hunan CYTS International Travel Agency.
“The travel agency business has heated up since the trans-provincial tourism resumed. It’s showing signs of revival thanks to the relatively strong support from the first Hunan Tourism Development Conference and preferential policy,” said Xiong Chunming, secretary general of Zhangjiajie Travel Agency Association.
Smaller travel agencies, such as Xincheng International Travel Agency and Jitian Travel Agency, have more obvious perception of market recovery. Jin Hong, the head of Jitian Travel Agency, told reporters that the business of more than 200,000 yuan was done in July. “The volume was zero during the epidemic before June.”
However, some large-scale travel agencies revealed that their business recovery is not as rapid as that of scenic areas and hotels and still needs to wait for some time for comprehensive recovery.
“The main business of some travel agencies specializing in outbound and inbound tourism has not started yet,” Li Li said.
Liu Shengbo, the head of Huatian International Travel Agency, thought that the consumption capacity and confidence are still recovering.
