“I have been casting iron flowers for thirty to forty years since I was in my teens. When I was young, I followed the adults to give a performance. Each time we have to spend two hours preparing for the molten iron since it must reach 1,700 degrees, and the laborious work in this process is beyond description. However, I feel content when the audience applaud our performance. I hope this intangible cultural heritage can step on bigger stages so that more people can appreciate it”, said Zhao Chongyang, the fourth-generation inheritor of Zhao Iron Flower Casting Art Troupe from Luoyang, Henan Province.
