The content inscribed on Xu Xiake’s travel milestone involves the logo of China Tourism, introduction to the milestone, Xu Xiake’s traveling route map, the calculation method of his traveling mileage and inscriber. The milestone is 5.9 meters long and 2.1 meters high. On April 12, 1637 (Chongzhen Period of the Ming Dynasty), Xu Xiake visited Yongxing and enjoyed the beautiful landscapes here. His writing of nearly 400 words about Yongxing provided true historical data for later generations to know Yongxing’s natural environment, culture, history and customs 380 years ago.

 

 

Now, by dint of Xu Xiake’s stories, Yongxing County has actively created its new cultural tourism brands, like “Xu Xiake’s travel milestone”, “Xu Xiake’s statue” and “Xu Xiake Cultural Museum”, which helps promote the new development of Yongxing’s culture and tourism.
