In Doushuiping Village, the annual “Night Story” was staged as scheduled, drawing more than 1,000 villagers and tourists.

 

The opening ceremony started with the recitation of village rules and family mottoes. After the opening ceremony, the event officially began. Local specialties such as beef, eggs, tea, cold powder, rice dumplings, corn, watermelon attracted many tourists to taste and buy. In order to receive tourists, the villagers also made ciba (glutinous rice cakes), creating more joyful atmosphere to the festival.

 

More than 100 actors walked in a long queue in the roadway, surrounded by villagers holding torches and braziers, and more than 50 stories were staged in turn, bringing a mysterious and unique folk culture performance to the villagers and tourists.

 

 

Shuidong Town hoped this festival could play a role in improving the rural living environment, rural civilization and rural education, enhance the public awareness of intangible cultural heritage protection, and create a good atmosphere for the people to participate in the protection of cultural heritage.

 

He Zhaopeng, Party secretary of Shuidong Town, said that in the next step, the town will take this festival as an opportunity to do a good job in “rural revitalization”, especially in cultural revitalization, make intangible cultural heritage and Red culture alive, drive characteristic agricultural products to go popular, and promote the high-quality development of Shuidong.
