On the morning of July 11, the signing ceremony of restarting “711 Time Town” project was held in the 711 Patriotism Memorial Square in Suxian District, Chenzhou City.
Nearly 100 employees and their families of the state-owned 711 Mine, residents of the area, and developers and builders of the Time Town gathered here to reminisce and share their touching stories with 711.
Yi Shengqing, a know-all about 711, is the former secretary of the 711 Mine Party Committee Office. He shared the touching stories of the older generation in the 711 Mine that he has recorded for decades. There were also many people at the scene who brought the most meaningful small objects during their working and living in the 711 mining area to witness the important moment of restarting 711.
Chenzhou 711 Mine is the earliest large-scale uranium mine discovered and explored in China, the largest uranium mine in Hunan Province, and one of the largest in China, providing qualified raw materials for the development and explosion of the first atomic bomb, and is praised as “the first meritorious uranium mine in China’s nuclear industry”. Although the 711 Mine was closed down after fulfilling its historical mission, the spirit of 711 remains everlasting, and it is about to be restarted.
After the restart, 711 Mine will be transformed into “711 Time Town”, which is jointly built by Hunan TV & Broadcast Intermediary Co., Ltd. and the government of Suxian District. The project is planned to be divided into three phases of development, with the planting area of 3,000 mu (200 hectares).
The first and second phases involve five functional areas: Time Square, National Treasure Courtyard, Research Base, Hot Spring Health Care, and Cultural and Creative Business. It restores the working and living style of a southern town in the 60s-90s through architectural style, period costumes, mobility tools, and immersive performances.
Here you can unlock a new mode of historical and cultural tourism, and enjoy a slow life. In the future, it will become a “national industrial historical and cultural block” and “a popular place for young people to visit in Chenzhou City”.
On the occasion of the Second Hunan Tourism Development Conference to be held in Chenzhou City on September 16, “711 Time Town” will make its debut to the public, and wonderful activities will be carried out then to welcome tourists.
