Yuhou Street has a history of more than 2,600 years. Historical and cultural landscapes such as the Luoma Ancient Road, Hualong Bridge, Jiangxi Guild Hall, and Rhino Well are all preserved and presented in their original form. 

 

 

Today, the ancient Yuhou Street gathers various business forms like characteristic catering, cultural leisure, and creative retail with theme food festivals, Lantern Festival celebrations, and “People’s Grand Stage” cultural activities as carriers, which further helps promote the integrated development of culture and tourism.

 

Hou Zhenglin, director of the Yuhou Street Historical and Cultural Block Management Committee, said, “We hold folk cultural activities and consumer promotion activities in Yuhou Street during each season and important traditional festivals to attract citizens and tourists. As of now, the highest daily passenger flow in the block has reached 50,000 people, and that is expected to reach 3.5 million people in 2023, with an estimated comprehensive income of over 270 million yuan.”

 

 

Currently, the second phase project of Yuhou Street is under construction and will be opened in August this year. At that time, Yuhou Street will take the Chenjiang River as the main trunk, and both banks in the east and west as two wings. 

 

“We will build Yuhou Street into a historical and cultural block integrating food, accommodation, travel, entertainment, shopping and performance to create the cultural tourism night economy brand,” said Hou Zhenglin.

 

There is also the lively Happy Coast Food Street in Suxian District, where the Suxian Food Week, lobster festival and other consumer promotion activities are held.

 

 

Opposite the block is Ailian Lake Park, where people can watch light shows and read the masterpiece “Ode to the Lotus Flower” by the Ming Dynasty Neo-Confucianist Zhou Dunyi at the Lianxi Academy in the park.

 

In recent years, Suxian District has fully played the leading role of Yuhou Street-Ailian Lake-Happy Coast area in nighttime consumption, and created an active nighttime economic system with reasonable consumption layout, complete functions and diverse formats with a total investment of over 25 million yuan. In 2022, the annual turnover of Suxian District’s nighttime economy reached 530 million yuan, an increase of 18.9% year on year.
