According to the local cultural tourism department, during the three-day New Year’s Day holiday (from December 30 to January 1), Chenzhou’s 33 scenic areas included in the provincial monitoring system received 422,265 tourist arrivals, up 112.57% year on year. The scenic areas generated a revenue of 43,799,043 yuan, surging by 86.04% year on year. The total tourism revenue during the holiday exceeded 16 million yuan, a cumulative increase of 107.57%.
Among them, an endless stream of tourists visited Dongjiang Lake (around the lake), Mangshan Scenic Area (Wuzhifeng), Gaoyi Ridge Scenic Area, and Suxian Ridge Tourist Area.
A total of 21,147 tourist trips were made to the monitored cultural venues, an increase of 96.06% year on year.
To create a strong festive atmosphere and enrich the holiday cultural tourism market, a series of colorful cultural tourism activities were launched during the three-day holiday. This better met the demand of the holiday market.
For example, the 2024 New Year Mountaineering Festival was held at Suxian Ridge Scenic Area. More than 2,000 mountaineering enthusiasts and citizens climbed the mountain to welcome the new year.
The people’s cultural center of Chenzhou City held a New Year concert, and the Russian Symphony Philharmonic Orchestra brought a music feast.
Main scenic spots continued to be popular. During the three-day holiday, the tourist reception of main scenic spots in Chenzhou ranked among the forefront. The highest reception of tourists reached 26,767 in Dongjiang Lake Scenic Area (around the lake), 24,563 in Dongjiang Bay, 16,000 in Shimu Hot Spring, 12,657 in Mangshan Mountain Scenic Area (Wuzhifeng) and 11,240 in Gaoyi Ridge Scenic Area.
The night tour economy was popular. Beihu Ever-bright Night Cultural Tourism Consumption Block launched New Year celebrations, and created a new landmark for citizens and tourists. It received 62,100 tourists, a year-on-year increase of 131.11%.
Moonlit Night on the Dongjiang Lake, a night cultural tourism consumption product created by Dongjiang Bay, held a series of activities to welcome the New Year of 2024, becoming a new growth point for Zixing’s nighttime economy. A total of 56,900 tourist arrivals were made to the Moonlit Night on the Dongjiang Lake, up 200.69% year on year, with an operating revenue of over 9.56 million yuan.
Yuhou Street in Suxian District also launched different kinds of exciting night activities, with 57,852 tourists received, a year on year increase of 66.69%.
Red tourism reception showed a stable trend. Shazhou Red Tourist Area in Rucheng County received 3,634 tourists, an increase of 240.9%, and generated 1,191,814 yuan, a year-on-year increase of 261.82%.
The Long March Cultural Exhibition and Inheritance Hall has become a favorite Red new landmark for tourists.
As an important part of the city’s tourism industry, Red tourism was still highly popular with tourists. During the three-day holiday, other Red attractions like Xiangnan Uprising Memorial Hall, Huang Kecheng’s former residence and Deng Hua’s former residence were also full of tourists.
Tourism homestay inns were constantly evolving. As one of the three major tourist homestay clusters in Hunan province, Dongjiang Lake Tourist Homestay Cluster, which focuses on “magnificent lake scenery”, is a golden tourism business card of Chenzhou tourism. Various group tours, parent-child tours and student gathering tours all preferred it.
Such homestay inns around the Dongjiang Lake as Dongjiang Lake No.1 Courtyard and Yiduoyun Villa attracted many tourists with comfortable living environment, exquisite decoration styles and thoughtful services.
Over 90% of major homestay inns were occupied during the New Year holiday. The 11 homestay inns monitored received 1,155 guests, a year-on-year increase of 34.77%, with a revenue of 423,586 yuan, up 31.22% year on year.
The popularity of parent-child tour was on the rise. During the holiday, parents and their children visited Chenzhou for beautiful scenery and appreciated the charm of Chenzhou culture.
Scenic spots including Xiongying Outdoor Tourist Area, Siqing Lake and Jiulong River welcomed many parents and children to carry out outdoor expansion training. The number of self-driving and parent-child tourists accounted for more than 60% of the total tourists.
