Walking along the 2-km long cement mountain road, you will arrive at the Shennong Baicao Garden, where blooming gardenia flowers along the two sides sway in the wind. 

 

The Shennong Baicao Garden covering an area of over 2,000 mu (about 133 hectares) has 37 kinds of Chinese herbal materials like citrus aurantium, radix paeoniae alba and rhizoma polygonati. An endless stream of tourists come here for sightseeing, experiencing the Shennong medicine culture and farming culture in Anren County. 

 

 

Anren Shennong Baicao Garden has won 16 honorary titles, including national demonstration site for industrial tourism and national demonstration base for underforest economy and green industry. 

 

A head of the base introduced that, while taking advantage of Anren Market Day on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity of UNESCO, it has received significant economic, ecological and social benefits.

 

 

Now, the base has driven farmers to develop more than 30,000 mu (2,000 hectares) of traditional Chinese medicine, 3,300 villagers who have got rid of poverty work in the base and get an annual income of about 20,000 yuan. More than 400 mu (26.67 hectares) of Rhizoma Polygonati have been intercropped under 800 mu (53.33 hectares) of Citrus aurantium, with a yield of over 20,000 yuan per mu (0.067 hectares).
