Traditional folk activities, such as guessing lantern riddles, Touhu, kicking shuttlecock, and making goldfish lanterns, were held in the Chenzhou Museum on February 12 to celebrate the Lantern Festival, bringing a cultural feast to citizens.

At the goldfish lanterns making site, citizens were guided to make their own goldfish lanterns with colored paper, bamboo strips, and glue. At the lantern riddle wall, lantern riddles about historical culture, poetry, songs, and common sense of life were displayed, and citizens either pondered themselves or discussed with each other. They would put on a proud smile when they got the right answer.
In addition, the on-site games such as Touhu, shuttlecock kicking, and ping pong game also attracted many citizens. Some tried to throw arrows into the pot, and some flexibly kicked shuttlecock to enjoy the fun brought by sports.
Zheng Yanqing, director of Chenzhou Museum, said that this event attracted more than 1,000 people. Citizens could receive a seal after finishing a game and obtained gifts when collecting all seals, such as Jin slips bookmarks, stickers, cultural and creative dolls.
“This event aims to build a bridge between citizens and traditional culture, promote traditional folk culture, enrich citizens’ lives, and allow people to experience the charm and connotation of traditional culture during the festival,” said Zheng Yanqing.
