New navigation marks escort night cruise

2025-03-04

“Our bridge and culvert signs and navigation clear height signs are used to indicate the position of the navigation holes on the bridge, guide ships to safely pass through the bridge, and prevent collisions with bridge piers. The diagonal markings on the bridge piers are mainly used as a warning for ships sailing at night. The whistle sign is a visual symbol that helps ships navigate safely and conveniently,” said Li Yan, deputy manager of Hunan Dongjiang Lake Dongjiang Bay Tourism Development Co., Ltd.

As “traffic lights” on water, navigation marks are important facilities to ensure the safety of ship navigation and improve navigation efficiency. In order to ensure the safety of the Moonlit Night on the Dongjiang Lake, 49 navigation marks have been added recently at the Dongjiang Bay to safeguard the safety of the night cruise and tourists.

Recently, on the lake surface of Dongjiang Bay, the cruise was slowly moving forward, with navigation marks flashing at a certain frequency, guiding boats in the correct channel.

The Moonlit Night on the Dongjiang Lake is a nighttime cultural and tourism consumption product created based on the Dongjiang Bay Tourism Resort. It mainly includes floral boat drifting, KTV, painted pleasure-boat tours, night performances, water bicycles, water sports cars, sailboats, paddleboards, leisure rafts, covering various consumption chains such as catering, tea ceremony, bar entertainment, and performances.

Among them, the floral boat night tour project is located within the waterway of Dongjiang Bay, with a total length of 6 kilometers and about 50 minutes’ boat trip. There are four bridges in the water area, including New Dongjiang Bay Bridge, Liangshu Bay Bridge, Dongjiang Bridge, and Dongjiang Suspension Bridge.

In February of this year, the company added 6 bridge and culvert signs (including 6 bridge and culvert lights), 12 navigation net height signs, 12 bridge pier warning diagonal signs, 16 navigation buoys, 2 whistle signs, and 1 navigation ban sign in the Dongjiang Bay water area to ensure the safety of boat navigation.

“Navigation marks can guide us in the right direction. If there are lights to guide us at night, we will know where we are and whether we are in a safe sailing area. This will make our voyage much safer,” said Tang Bin, a ship pilot of the company.
