It was reported that the launching ceremony of selection of “ten cultural symbols of Chenzhou” was held in Chenzhou city on April 12, 2016.

The cultural symbol is the material and spirit essence carried forward by a place even a nation and a county for a long time, which is also the soft power and important means of production and strategic capital. In order to excavate the cultural resources of Chenzhou city, shape its boutique cultural icon, strengthen cultural confidence of Chenzhou people, manifest cultural connotation, and popularize the fame of the city, Chenzhou city decided to carry out the selection of “ten cultural symbols of Chenzhou”.

The selection is sponsored by Chenzhou Municipal Party Committee and Chenzhou Government, undertaken by Chenzhou Propaganda Department, and executed by Chenzhou Daily Office, Chenzhou Media Group, Chenzhou Tourism and Foreign Affairs Bureau, Chenzhou Radio and TV, Chenzhou Literary Federation, and Chenzhou Federation of Humanities and Social Science.

The key contents for the selection are the familiar natural landscapes, human culture landscapes, specialties, oral legends and expressions, literary arts, folk etiquettes and celebrations, handcrafts, and etc. which are with deep cultural connotation and can highly represent Chenzhou culture. Figures are excluded from this selection.

The mass-selection will be handled from April 12 to July 10, 2016 by two methods as written and online from three platforms of www.czxww.cn, public Wechat, and email- [email protected]. The numbers for each recommendation is limited to be less than 10. Final results will be released to public in this September after specified procedures of releasing candidates, collecting mass judges, public voting, judges voting, comprehensive assessment, study and approval, and etc.
It is actually a large-scale popularization and promotion of Chenzhou city’s 2000-year culture by handing this selection event. All departments should pay closer attention to organize it and handle it scientifically and openly with sound propaganda work. The special role of cultural symbols should be well played to promote the improvement of “five Chenzhou”.
