“On the basis of good quality and safety, great efforts should be tried on the construction of Chishi Bridge of Xiarong expressway to finish it at the end of 2014.”said Xiang Lili- Secretary of Chenzhou Municipal Party Committee on his investigation trip to Chishi Bridge of Xiarong expressway.

Chishi Bridge is a critical control project for Rucheng section of Xiarong expressway and also a landmark for Hunan expressway construction besides Aizhai Bridge. Chishi Bridge is located between Yuxi village and Pingguang village of Yizhang county where are some river terraces and mud flats. It was designed to be a concrete cable-stayed bridge with four towers, the biggest one of which is290 meters high. This 2272.76 meters long and 28 meters wide bridge was invested with nearly 1.1 billion yuan, once finished it would be facilitated with four-lane for both directions. It was learned that Chishi Bridge is the largest concrete multi-tower cable-stayed bridge of the world currently. Now Chishi Bridge is under the main beam construction process, which assisted the bridge to be finished and opened to public on time with the technological and progress supports.

On the visit of Chishi Bridge construction site, on behalf of Chenzhou Municipal Party Committee and Chenzhou Government, Xiang expressed the gratitude and regards to the workers who stayed on duties during the period of 2014 Chinese New Year holiday. Xiang stated that it was significant for Chenzhou city’s poverty alleviation and development work to handle out Chishi Bridge project well, because without the success and fulfillment of this bridge, Xiarong expressway was not capable to play its role well as a traffic artery. Though there were great difficulties hindered on the way of further construction, all project owners and workers should try best to conquer them and meet the time schedule with good quality and safe condition of the project.

Xiang emphasized that it was the crucial and final stage of the project, all relative departments of Chenzhou city and Yizhang county should try all efforts to provide more favorable and optimized construction condition for the project and grant a safe and civilized construction environment to the project by strictly striking illegal behaviors happened there.

Xiang also pointed out that the overall effect of Chishi Bridge should be fully played as well. Aizhai Bridge in western Hunan has become a beautiful landscape there. The owners of Chishi Bridge should pay more attention on the design of Chishi Bridge’s project landscape and lighting to drive the tourism development around the bridge and play the bridge’s overall development effect.
