A special interview with Lei Hailin- the founder of Hunan rally team

There was a dream for Lei Hailin- founder of Hunan rally team that was to stand in the top prize-awarding platform. Because of this dream, Lei kept to fight for different rally races in China and got through the toughest stage on the first three years of establishment of the rally team. Just as Lei said: “everything is simple and persistent for a man who is with dream.”

Lei failed to win the top three places on his first show of Nanjing section

Lei Hailin started his racing career from 2005 after he signed the contract with Shanghai Volkswagen 333 team and attended the POLO Cup competition. During the three contracted year, Lei won many top three places of the sections. Once finished the contract with Shanghai Volkswagen, he joined in some teams of Wuxi and Guizhou afterward.
In 2010, Lei established his team- Hunan Chenzhou dragon team. At that time, Lei was a owner of a small restaurant, and all the expenditures of the team were sourced from the profit of this restaurant.

In May 2010, Lei led his team attended “Nanjing Auto 4S Cup”(Jiangning) China Rally Championship. At the first stage of the racing section on May 15, 2010, Han Han, Chen De’an and some other famous racing drivers failed to pass the “devil track”, but Lin behaved excellent on this section and ranked the third place on that section.

According to the data, Lin would get prize on this championship. But unfortunately, in the afternoon of May 16, the team was informed that because the problem of water tank, Lei cancelled the race.

Lei and team became more famous after the adjustment of the team.

After 2010’s championship, Lei took some actions for adjusting the problems of his team.

First, Lei changed the team’s name from Hunan dragon team to Huan rally team on the consideration of marketing and brand construction. Hunan rally team was more acceptable to the masses.

Second, Lei changed the auto from POLO to Yaris of Guangqi Toyota Automobile.

In 2011, Hunan rally team led by Lei Hailin gained great achievements on the championship. Lei won the third place of S2 grade and the team won the second place. Some other teammates won second place and champion in different section of different grade as well. It was ranked the forth place of annual team of S2 group of 2011 China Rally Championship.

Lei ascended to top level racing driver of China

“2012 was an important year for both Hunan rally team and myself on the speeding improvement.” said Lei Hailin. It was a fruitful year for them.

Lei Hailin won champion of S2 group in Beijing 2012 China Rally Championship in August 2012, which was his first champion tile in China Rally Championship. It was introduced by Lei that at the beginning of the races, in order to adapt to the new tire, Lei drove comparatively slow. But after learning that there was big gap among other drivers, Lei decided to driver faster with these new tires. Finally they did it and won champion of S2 group, so as their team.

In October 2012, in Longyou section of 2012 China Rally Championship, Lei won second champion title of S2 group. Lei tried best to won it after solving the problems of shock absorber in the period.

With Lei’s efforts, he ascended to the top level racing drivers of China in 2012. Hunan rally team won the second place of annual team of S2 grade in 2012. Lei and his team became more well-known in the rally teams of China.

Lei led his team to attend the rally championship held in his hometown.

A dream for Lei was to stand in the top prize-awarding platform. Another dream was to promote the rally races’improvement of Hunan province.
