Chongling National Wetland Park, located in Guiyang County, is 9.3 kilometers away from the county and only 30 kilometers away from Chenzhou City, Beijing-Guangzhou Railway and Beijing-Zhuhai Expressway. The Wetland Park is 53 kilometers long and covers a total area of 3220.0 hectares, of which 2478.7 hectares are wetland, accounting for 76.98 percent. The construction period of the park is from 2013 to 2020, with an investment budget of 101 million yuan. Following the basic principles of "comprehensive protection, scientific restoration, rational utilization and sustainable development", five functional areas are planned and constructed, including wetland conservation area, restoration and reconstruction area, education and exhibition area, rational utilization area and management service area.

The Chongling National Wetland Park is a reservoir-river complex wetland park with unique and beautiful ecological environment, which breeds rich and colorful natural resources and profound human resources. There are four types of wetlands in the park: permanent river, floodplain wetland, reservoir and aquaculture farm. The wetland types are interlaced in the park with different landscapes, forming a series of independent and closely interdependent complex wetland ecosystems.

There are many kinds of plants and abundant resources of wetland plants and animals in the park. 15 species of national key protected plants are known, including two species of national primary protected plants. There are 12 species of national secondary protected animals in wildlife, and 19 species listed in the "Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES)".

On the one hand, through the implementation of water quality conservation and waterfowl habitat protection projects, the park protects the existing waterfowl habitat safety and improves its quality; on the other hand, through the construction of waterfowl habitat, the restoration of aquatic biodiversity, and the protection and restoration of waterfront, the park builds habitats to meet the needs of different waterfowls, provides adequate food for waterfowl, and creates shelters for waterfowl, so as to provide a good habitat for more waterfowl, ensure the safety of migratory ecological passage, and provide a reserve habitat for wintering waterfowl.

With its unique wetland ecosystem type and diverse natural landscape, Chongling wetland has become an important research base for wetland ecosystem and biodiversity and an ideal place for popular science education and teaching practice. Chongling National Wetland Park, which is open to the public free of charge, has become a special "classroom" for minors in Guiyang County and a "museum" for the public. The public can learn about the biodiversity and cultural diversity of wetland ecosystem, and through participating in various forms of popular science activities organized by the Chongling National Wetland Park Management Office, they can increase the knowledge of wetland environmental protection and enhance the awareness of ecological environment protection, so as to achieve the role of science popularization in the protection of wetland resources and ecological environment.
