Located in the center of Chenzhou City, Beihu Park is situated on Guoqing Road in the east, West Renmin Road in the south, Zhuyechong (now Wanhuchong) in the West and Chenggui Road in the north. It was built in 1975, covering 31.6 hectares and 12.47 hectares of water in the north.

There are a camphor forest area and a playground for teenagers in the southern of the park. A simulated "25,000-mile Long March" route was built to show people the "Iron Cable Bridge", "Snow Mountain", "Grassland" and so on. The water surface of Beihu Lake is 12 hectares, accounting for more than 30 percent of the total area of Beihu Park. "Beihu Shuiyue" is one of the eight sceneries in Chenzhou, which has been praised by literati and poets of all dynasties. 

According to the overall plan, the park has basically formed six functional areas: Rest Area, Children's Activity Area, Youth Entertainment Area, Lake Area, Nursery Production Area and Administrative Area. The southern part of the park is a land area, more than 40 recreational facilities, such as Ferris wheel, water walking ball, large roller coaster, roller skating rink and fitness park, are distributed. At the same time, there are Shuanglong Legend, Osmanthus Forest, Dazhangshu Square, Women's Volleyball Square, Elephants and Pandas and other garden ornaments. On the Women's Volleyball Square, there are sculptures commemorating the Chinese women's volleyball team's five consecutive championships - "Struggle", which vividly reproduces the heroic posture of women's volleyball. By 2001, more than 16 million tourists had been received, and now it has become a quiet place in downtown areas, suitable for all ages, with a certain scale of modern comprehensive mass culture, entertainment and rest places.

In 1988, with a state investment of 470,000 yuan (of which 450,000 yuan was allocated by the Municipal Government and 20,000 yuan by the Ministry of Construction), Lei Yixin, a member of Hunan Branch of China Art Association, designed and constructed a group of vivid and innovative large-scale Chinese women's volleyball team sculptures. In order to commemorate the rapid development of the Chinese women's volleyball team in Chenzhou, Chenzhou people erected a large-scale sculpture of the Chinese women's volleyball team in Beihu Park.

The publicity boards of "Women's volleyball spirit"

Chenzhou City is the soaring land of Chinese women's volleyball team, but also the breeding ground of Chinese women volleyball spirit. The women volleyball spirit has been regarded as the benchmark and motto of hard struggle by Chenzhou people, but also evolved into a symbol of Chenzhou culture and society. In order to better carry forward the women volleyball spirit, 18 publicity boards were set up in the South Gate Plaza, Women's Volleyball Square and the East Gate of Beihu Park to show the "five consecutive" of Chinese women's volleyball team, the information and pictures of 2016 Olympic champions and women volleyball spirit, and the connotation of "five Chenzhou". The theme education of women volleyball spirit is in harmony with the landscape in the park.
