“Tasting delicious fishes, enjoying Yao minority’s folk culture” , it was learned that 2015 Dongjiang lake (Huangcao) 2nd Fish Culture Festival would be opened on August 20, 2015 in Huangcao town, Zixing city. That is the first festival held by Dongjiang lake after it submitted the application to be national 5A landscape.

Huangcao town is located in the southeast of Zixing city. In recent years, it well implemented the development strategy of “ecological improvement, industrial development, upgrading of town, tourism development, cultivation of talent” to forge it to be “Xiaoxiang style water town”. It was honored with different awards as “national civilized town”, “national beautiful environment town”, “national advanced grass root party organization”, “Hunan provincial famous characteristic landscape tourism town”, “Hunan provincial famous tourism town”, “Hunan provincial sanitary town”, and etc.

A one-thousand-people fish feast would be set in the festival. Some activities followed with the theme of “beautiful mountain, beautiful water, beautiful people, and beautiful fish”, with the feature of “tasting delicious fish, enjoying Yao minority’s folk culture” and with the cultural tourism of “romantic Qixi festival” would be carried out in the festival to show the Dongjiang fish culture and Huangcao town’s new sceneries to all the visitors. They can enjoy Huangcao town’s “Xiaoxiang style” scenery and the harmony between human and nature.

It was introduced that in order to handle out this festival well, Huangcao town started the preparation work in advance. It carried out the environment treatment, security treatment and etc. in Jinniu island and other place; some rural inns were upgraded to provide better environment to the visitors; the villagers were busy in collecting the desks and benches to prepare for the “one-thousand-people fish feast”. Different tourism cultural activities as the fish feast, Yao minority style’s party, Xianghuo dragon dance, romantic Qixi costume ball, Yao minority style’s campfire party, beer party, and etc. would be held during the festival. Visitors can enjoy the beauty of Dongjiang lake well via these colorful cultural tourism activities.
