It was reported that opening ceremony for second Dongjiang lake- Liaojiang viewing activity of cole flower was launched in Chenjiaping village, Liaojiang town, Zixing city on March 1, 2014. Though it was rainy on that day, many visitors gathered there to enjoy the cole flowers and their leisure lives in spring.

Cole flowers of Liaojiang conquered the extreme weather condition of warm winter and cold spring and bloomed beautifully to greet the visitors. Decorated with the gold cole flowers, Liaojiang town was full of vitality and poetry atmosphere. More innovative activities were carried out in this opening ceremony compared with the first one held in 2013. Chenzhou Huagu opera troupe and local folk performance team were invited to present their best programs to audience in the ceremony. Different folk performances as grass dragon, cloth dragon, lion dance, suona, and etc. were operated in some sections of this activity to show the unique traditional folk culture to visitors.

It was introduced by Jiao Yantao- Secretary of Liaojiang Town’s Party Committee that this activity was with the theme of “traveling along Liaojiang river, enjoying cole flower”. It was sponsored by Liaojiang Town’s Party Committee, Liaojiang Government, Zixing Agricultural Bureau and Zixing Tourism Bureau. It would be last to March 16, 2014. Some more activities such as find food promotion would be held during this period, visitors can have a try and buy some local special and delicious foods there. At the meantime, photography, calligraphy, painting, writing and other creative activities would be carried out there that all artists can express their best feelings of Liaojiang. Some outdoor activities were held there to grant visitors a relax and leisure trip in Liaojiang.

Liaojiang town which locates in northwest of Zixing city is famous as “small Nangjing”. In 2013, the first viewing activity of cole flower was held there, which attracted more than 100,000 visitors to enjoy the 130,000mu cole flowers. Due to such successful result, Liaojiang town’s cole flower became one of its most famous tourism brands. An industrial chain for cole flower viewing, entertainment, shopping and catering was formed with the development of this activity, which helped to combine the cole planting and leisure sightseeing together.
