On March 25, 2018, the China Society of Territorial Economists issued the shortlist of the "Top 100 Deep Breathing Cities in 2018" in Beijing, and 200 counties (cities/districts) of the country as the candidate units were publicized. The list of "Top 100 Deep Breathing Cities in 2018" was officially announced on May 19, China Travel Day, after a public consultation and further selection by experts. Chenzhou Guidong County, Rucheng County and Linwu County were selected.

The China Society of Territorial Economists said that it would further strengthen the scope, depth and intensity of the joint construction of the small cities, comprehensively launch the "100-City and Two-Mountain Demonstration Project", and mobilize the think tanks resources, financial resources and industrial resources to provide comprehensive and systematic service support for the newly selected "Top 100 Deep Breathing Cities" in the aspect of poverty alleviation and green development.

It was reported that the selection and promotion of the "Top 100 Deep Breathing Cities" have entered the fifth year. Every year, our country conducts the selection of the "Top 100 Deep Breathing Cities", the selected cities will be attached importance to by the national tourism, receive more investment as the focus of the national tourism development, and also serve as the models for national environmental governance. As the link and bridge of "Lucid waters and lush mountains" converted into the "Invaluable assets", the "Top 100 Deep Breathing Cities" has become a symbol of green development, and a sound business card for promoting tourism and special production all over the world.
