The county magistrate wearing bamboo hat and coir raincoat, rolled up trousers barefoot, held a head of cattle with red silk in the neck, and pulled the plough to roll up the fertile land, marking the beginning of the spring ploughing and spring sowing.

In Anren County, the Spring Equinox Festival, known as the "Ganfenshe" by local people, originated in the later Tang Dynasty and is the folk seasonal activity to commemorate the Chinese ancestor Shen Nong who tasted herbs to cure and taught farming in Anren. When the Spring Equinox Festival, the county people spontaneously met in the county to worship Shen Nong, trade herbs, plow and hold other farming activities. With the change of time and the slowly expanded influence of activities, businessmen from Jiangxi around Hunan, Guangdong, Hebei, Henan and other more than 10 provinces traded herbs in Anren. In the Chinese herbal medicine trading market, there were huge crowds of people, herbal fragrance wafting in the air and all kinds of original ecology of Chinese herbal medicine.

Ganfenshe was included in the list of national intangible cultural heritage in 2014. Today, the Shennong Hall, Drug Lake Temple, Drug Lake Well, Drug Lake Village and other historical landscapes, and "Lantern Rice Sculpture", "Jiangkou Dragon Boat", Dragon Lantern Festival, Lion Dance Competition and other historical heritage are still preserved in the local. At the end of November 2016, "Anren Ganfenshe" was included in the expansion project directory of "China Twenty-four solar terms" and was among the world's intangible cultural heritage, which was rare in China. The "Anren Ganfenshe" is the only regional uniqueness human intangible cultural heritage project in Hunan.

In recent years, Anren County Committee and County Government leveraging Shennong culture, deeply integrated the cole flowers and "Ganfenshe", combined with modern business and tourism and held the annual well-known large-scale festival activities - "Shennong Spring Equinox Yaowang Festival" and "Cole Flowers Festival".
