The construction content of the South Graphite New Material Engineering Technology R & D Center project started with a total investment of 120 million yuan and a land area of about 37 mu, includes technology research and development center, engineering technology pilot test base, high-end graphite and its related material testing center, etc. The R & D center will take scientific and technological innovation as the driving force, cooperate with domestic and foreign scientific research institutes to research and transform the application of microcrystalline graphite in the industries of ultra-high purity graphite, isostatic pressure graphite, lithium battery cathode materials, graphene and other new materials, and integrate the functions of graphite innovation, R & D, pilot test, industrial incubation, investment and financing, training and education, and information supporting services, so as to take the lead in realizing the breakthrough of large-scale preparation technology in China, and promote the vigorous development of new technology, new products and new formats. 
 

Since 2011, Southern Graphite has invested nearly 3.5 billion yuan in Chenzhou to complete the integration of mineral rights and technical transformation of mining area. At present, the company focuses on the research and development of graphite deep processing technology, products and applications. After the completion of the development center project, the international first-class scientific research and technology team will be introduced to form a research base for on-site transformation of scientific and technological achievements and a powerful platform for application research of medium and high-purity graphite. It can be predicted that the construction of South Graphite New Material Engineering Technology R & D Center will become an important milestone in the development history of microcrystalline graphite.

Graphite industry is the most basic, advantageous and potential pillar industry in Chenzhou. According to the general strategy of "industry leading and all-round development", the Municipal Party Committee and the Municipal Government have taken the graphite new material industry as one of the six key tasks to build "new growth pole of Hunan Province", and strive to build Chenzhou into a global microcrystalline graphite new material industry base. By 2025, the annual output value of microcrystalline graphite and its related industries will exceed 100 billion yuan.
